J Exposito is a Venezuelan-born, Sydney-based photographer and emerging artist. His photography begins with reflection as physical material and distortion as language. His subjects are photographed through hand-manipulated reflective surfaces, until they begin to merge with the material itself. The resulting photographs sit somewhere between documentation and abstraction, holding a subject's likeness and its dissolution at the same time. For Exposito, it's a technique in search of an image and an image in search of displacement. Reflection isn't a tool he uses, it's the material he thinks in.
Each work is made entirely by hand, printed and then painted with clear acrylic gel. No digital tools, no AI.
